Shih-Li Kow's Event In Silverfish

Assalamualaikum..

Hai semuaa...Semuaa haaaii.. heheh.
Okay, yesterday was a fine day with a fine weather, nice to sit inside and keep yourself warm with a cup of hot coffee and some cekodok sayur or ubi rebus to be eaten with and sitting around with some good companies, talking casually about how's life going on so so far.

We did stay inside yesterday, warm and safe and happy in Silverfish Bangsar. Hahaha. OK. Eventhough it was a temporary warm-ness, still, it was worth it. So, me, Kak Siti Hajar, Kak Nurul and Kak Ain were passionate enough to attend Shih-Li Kow's talk yesterday. The fact that the four of us sanggup redah hujan berjalan dari Bangsar Village ke kedai buku tersebut adalah sangat, menyentuh hati. heheh. ye. terharu.

It was the first time for me to attend that kind of small event, surrounded by people from different races and feeling very comfortable being there and i told myself, "This is Malaysia". Super nice and intergrated I can say. Sebab tak rasa alien pun walaupun ada rasa awkward sikit. Haha.

Shih-Li Kow was there to talk about her new book, The Sum of Our Follies and shared some info on what gives her the inspiration to write, her writing style and how her characters in the story developed. For your information, Shih-Li Kow is a Malaysian writer, a current one, and her stories are mostly of different kinds of approaches especially on the themes and issues presented in a Malaysian setting.

What caught my attention was when she said:
"I  write what I like to write".
I guess, that's how she finds her comfortable zone in writing and developing incredible stories. Haha. So, korang, buatlah apa yang kita rasa kita suka buat OK? Sebab, bila kita suka, kita buat sungguh2. Dan, dari situlah akan ada originality =) Jadi, buatlah perkara yang baik, dengan semangat yang sangat tinggi. Heee.

And..she said that:
"I think too much advice doesn't help"
Because, in some ways it may degrade your motivation along the way. It is not that advice from others are not good but Shih-Li said, bila dah siap kerja like 90%, then bolehlah mula minta pendapat dan nasihat orang lain =) so that it will not affect your creativity.

You guys might want to take a look at these books and maybe try baca? Because it's nice =)
